SYNOPSIS

lit. “drinking the northwest wind.” The “northwest wind” refers to the cold wind during winter. Hence, this phrase means to have nothing to eat, only breathing in the cold wind to survive.
什么风把你吹来了
(shén me fēng bǎ nǐ chuī lái le)
lit. “what wind blew you here?” It is commonly translated as “what brings you here?” You can find a more detailed explanation of this phrase in Episode 3.
In this scene, there is a word play with the word, “wind.” If we translated the conversation literally, it would have gone like this:
– What wind blew you here?
– The northwest wind.
– You owe us money. Our company will be drinking the northwest wind soon.
